Worked like a charm with HP Envy x360 15-cp0xxx

. I just bought this, plugged it into my motherboard (blue plastic side up), sealed the hard drive with tape and closed the lid. The laptop recognized the hard drive without flinching. $10 is pretty steep for a basic cable, but it was my cheapest option on Amazon (that's $4 on Alibaba, but 3 months shipping and ½ return versus Amazon's 2-day no-quibble policy). Ultimately, I would highly recommend this to anyone with a compatible laptop.
