Review on πŸ“· EF - EOS R Canon Mount Adapter, Compatible with EOS RP, EOS R, EOS R6, EOS R5 by Ken Coste

Works well, could be ok with basic adapter.

I bought this to adapt my old EF lenses to my EOS R6 and R5 cameras. And while it works, I found I didn't need to use the control ring since both cameras have three dials instead of the usual 2. I was planning on using the ISO control ring, but I can just use the selector on the back of one of the cameras to do this. Instead I set it to use Exposure Compensation and I don't like that I have to meter to adjust it ie I have to hold the shutter button or BBF or it won't do anything. I know some who use it to switch autofocus modes, but I found I could switch modes easily with the multi-function shutter. In fact, I could probably save money and just buy a plain adapter without the control ring. I will say that the build quality is very good and I haven't noticed any loss in autofocus speed or performance. Anyhow, all my old lenses, even 3rd party lenses from Sigma and Tamron, work at least as well on my R6 and R5 with this adapter and in the case of 3rd party lenses the autofocus seems to be more accurate than it was on my old ones DSLRs. If you need precise autofocus even with adapted lenses, a mirrorless camera is the right choice. But you don't need to buy a double price control ring adapter if you have an R5 or R6 as they have enough built in controls. It should be noted that the ring is slightly more useful on older R or RP cameras as they lack the same number of controls as the newer cameras. So if you have one of these cameras, it might be worth the extra cost. Or if you just want an extra wheel, that's fine too. It can be programmed to use features other than ISO and EV.
