I wear my diamond stud earrings 24/7 for several weeks before I take them off to clean them. I still have the 14k gold screw on the back they came with. They kept unscrewing and I was afraid of losing one or both. I got tired of messing with the rear wheels so I ordered them. I have small thin earlobes so I didn't mind that the backs were small and it was quite difficult to put my threaded earrings on. They never broke up. However, they have dried, shriveled and hardened, making them extremely difficult to remove. There are enough of these in the box that you can try to remember to swap out the back panels on a weekly basis, but this is ridiculous. They are marked with plastic rubber, no indication of silicone. My husband, an engineer, said silicone doesn't dry out or shrink. Luckily they were cheap. If, like me, you wear earrings longer, look into silicone.
