You get what you pay for. I hope

I saw your ad on TV and decided to try it (besides, they were on sale ;-). It appears to be sealed as advertised. I don't ride the subway or carry my mug to work, so I can't comment on durability in those situations. I mostly use it in the car where it works pretty well and hasn't lost a drop. Today I left it in the car when I took the dog to the vet. After an hour in a 20 degree machine, my coffee was even a little warmer. It's not as good as my trusty old Aladdin's thermos, but it's not as unreasonable either. If you look at this mug you'll notice that it doesn't have the thick double walls of a thermos or thermos, so I think it performs as well as you might expect. In terms of looks and construction, it looks and feels good. The top is made out of fairly hard plastic and looks like it might break on impact. All in all, a sealed lid seems to be a lot more complicated than your typical cheap travel mug. It works well, but does more parts mean less durability? For my car use I'm sure it will be fine. In a more active environment I would probably look for something less expensive or more reliable to withstand any bumps or accidents. Given the great looks, good performance, and expected iffy durability, how much am I willing to pay for one of these? I bought mine at the Super Duper Lightning Special Ultra Discount or something like that. So I paid about half of Contigo's suggested retail price. And to be honest, I think it's worth it. Be patient and wait for them to go on sale.

Pros
  • high marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • weak
