death trap? Best in Small Animals

I loved it when I first got it, super cute! But it is VERY small. I think even for a dwarf hamster. I have normal sized hamsters, not big at all. They still fit in the palm of my hand. I was aware that they wouldn't fit in, but they liked to chew and climb on them, so I left it. Well, about 2 months later, today I found that one of them was completely stuck! Luckily it was fairly cheaply made (literally hot glued together) so I was able to carefully disassemble and free it. I can tell his hind legs hurt, I need to keep an eye on him to make sure he's alright. But I can't believe he's stuck!
