is tall but slim and of an age where he is no longer quite youthful in height , but it no longer seems to fit adult sizes yet. Youth XL are too tight in the waist and back, but too short in the legs. I can't find anything in 30w locally and the 32w pants are too big. I measured his waist and he is about 30.5 inches. Thought I'd give these 32Wx32L pants a try as they have elastic around the waist which should help better with extra material than just a belt. He tried them on and they fit very well. They're snug enough not to look too big, but have enough room in the elasticated waist for him to grow. The length seems to fit 32L which is a bit longer than what he needs right now but it's ok and way better than the high water he's stuck in. Decent depth to keep things in place. There are cargo pockets with Velcro on both legs. There is a second zippered pocket on the right leg, deep enough for my iPhone XS Max. Velcro closures. Got it in army green, a bit more intense than I expected but good enough to wear with a BSA Scout uniform. The belt loops are also big enough to fit the uniform's belt, which is a big improvement over the pants he's wearing now. I would recommend these pants for everyday use and for Boy Scouts looking for an alternative to their uniform.
