Review on 🏊 Black Swimovate Poolmate Heart Rate Monitor and Lap Counter Watch by Josh Suter

Works but not great

I wouldn't recommend this device unless it's the only game in town. Instead, I'll summarize what it can and can't do for you. The HRM works in water (sort of), when you're actually swimming it loses heart rate reading, probably due to a radio loss. If you stop to check it will update quickly, but if you want to watch it while swimming it's a bug. The lap counter is based on counting hand movements while swimming. So if you're just crawling it's pretty accurate, but if you turn it on while swimming like I did, the lap counter quickly becomes useless. It would have been fine if they had provided a simple function to manually trigger the lap counter on one of the buttons, but apparently that was too much. The lap counter works, but not like this. The calorie counter is a joke, use the standard chart for your age and weight as this thing grossly overestimates calorie consumption. So there isn't another game in town that I know of and this device works in water so it just doesn't work very well.

Pros
  • Sapphire crystal and ceramic dial make it durable but very stylish
Cons
  • Can't remember
