As if 2020 was conspiring to suck all the fun out of life. . . and wealthy. The popularity of these balls is very similar to our political situation in the United States. The man who taught us how to play pickleball introduced us to Franklin X this summer. Since July I have passed at least 50 of these balls. These are MUCH worse balls on earth. I would say that in the 4 years of playing prior to this summer I didn't throw away more than 2 new balls due to manufacturing defects. At Franklin X there are at least 50. Every second ball swings in flight. Literally 50% or more of these balls are complete garbage. In the summer we thought it was because our trainer bought 200 of them on sale. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I then bought 100 X-40s at full price from another supplier because they were the "official US Open balls". Like the ones we played with over the summer, all the other balls wobbled in flight. They go in the trash. Every second ball. It's annoying. I've done a lot of sports in my life. It is no exaggeration to say that I have at least dabbled in almost every popular racquet sport played anywhere in the world. I have never seen such blatant rubbish. Everyone I've met who's actually played with these balls agrees, but somehow they remain popular - I'm guessing because people like me want to play "the official ball of the US Open." Don't waste your time or money.
