My baby has an early teether (late 2 months) and is still having trouble (4 months) using other teethers. I can give it to him and he can use it all himself. He likes the bobbing head and knows the horns, ears and face. While it's not the most exciting toy for him, it's still the only teether he can use alone, so it's a win in my book. There are downsides to consider, too: you can't submerge or boil it in water, and it doesn't suck very well, and it's difficult to get your hand stuck in it at times (not dangerous, just annoying). to him when he's already naughty from teething) From what I understand the rattling is kind of pointless and more trouble than good (water stays at the bottom) but if you're careful it's worth it for babies who have trouble holding things.
