A professional photographer sometimes needs to use these small devices to be able to shoot fast videos with a modern smartphone and have an extra capture device. Of course, today's smartphone isn't quite the flip phone that used to cost $50 or less, so I wanted to spend the extra cash so it doesn't crumble to death. So far I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with a Spigen case. , this durable metal smartphone holder is perfect for a large space, I wish my phone was bigger. It's spring loaded, but with a metal thumbscrew I can secure the phone and forget about it. There is a standard 1/4"-20 (all metal) thread on the bottom and BOTH sides, which is nice for me. While there are cheaper plastic models, I don't stick my $700 phone in them and rely on such a device anyway this is a solid mount hopefully I will use for years the last one I had was very flimsy with a plastic tab and very thin metal that eventually broke $14 is still cheap considering that almost all parts of the product are made of metal.. Highly recommended!
