Review on πŸ”Š Klipsch CDT-5800-C II In-Ceiling Speaker - White (Individual) by Andre Belitz

ButterflyPhoto's description is incorrect/false.

I decided to try ButterflyPhoto because the description says "Open packaging - Item in perfect condition. The item is in the original packaging, but the packaging has minor damage and scratches. This item has been tested and is in working order.” That's a flat out lie - (This item has been tested and is in excellent condition.) As you can see the crossover board is split in two rendering the device completely non-functional. The only truth in their statement was that it was an open box and the packaging was slightly damaged by someone removing the old shipping label from it. The shipping box wasn't hit so Klipsch shipped it that way or a previous buyer broke it. There was no noticeable damage to the crossover from impacts that indicated the unit had been dropped. They licked the box to see if it tasted like cardboard and said yes, it tasted like cardboard so it's good to go. Very upset as I was dying to compare this to the Micca reference series R-8C 8" rimless in-ceiling speaker in a true head-to-head instrumental comparison to see if they are really worth the huge price difference. I'm a die-hard Klipsch fan and have a full 9.2 Reference 7 install that I'd like to pair with when deploying Atmos. Given that they are now made in China, I have a few reservations. Certainly not the same level of reliability as Original Hope Arkansas built units, as I currently pointed out how thin the circuit board is and only three mounting points to support it. If you provide me with a working unit. I will be happy to update this review with the results of my testing. Klipsch usually always gets five stars in terms of performance, which doesn't mean it's a hit for Klipsch. the lack of sufficient support, which is no different from the Micca's crossover, which costs only $ 60. Am I wrong if I don't expect more from a speaker listed for $400? The micca actually sounds very good in the test box I have. in. I don't expect them to be that sensitive, which just means more power is required to run them at the same SPL.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I have doubts
