Extremely disappointing camera

We bought this to replace our Sony H55. We checked out reviews from CNet and the S9100 seemed great and after looking at other high zoom cameras we thought it would be worth giving Nikon a try as I have a lot of friends who who love Nikon. Well, I think we should have paid more attention to user feedback on Revain. People here kept saying that it was difficult to get a clear picture. We thought we were experienced enough and good enough as photographers to handle it. Obviously not. Although we're not professionals, we're pretty good. We certainly know how to focus, center and take a beautiful picture. This camera just won't let you do that. We played around with ISO settings, white balance, scene settings, pretty much everything until I got to the point where the camera would fly out the window and couldn't be brought back. This is just a disappointing camera. You line up with the subject, half-click the shutter button to focus, and it rubs until the moment is over and you can focus. This happens when you are 3, 3 or 30 feet away. You can then tilt the corner a bit and it will focus. or if the cat or child moves at all (when does the cat or child NOT move when you try to take a picture?) the picture is a total mess. I'm not talking about big moves. Shaking your hand slightly may spoil the picture. Now that it's a good shot it looks great. It looks great in bright sunlight when the subject is perfectly still. at least 5 others because something went wrong Ultimately I would recommend anyone considering this camera to look elsewhere if you don't have nerves of steel and just shoot still lifes with a tripod.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
