They are much nicer than normal snowshoes. They are thin enough for my son to wear to elementary school and still walk as much as he can. They are not bulky and offer good grip when walking on slippery surfaces. They're not fully waterproof so I suppose if your feet are completely covered in snow your feet can get cold while sledding or whatever, but they're great for everyday winter use. Definitely recommend. We ordered them in my son's current shoe size and they fit great with enough room for decent socks.
