I serviced and ridden bikes for a long time and had a pretty crappy experience with traditional tire levers. While the plastic ones are lightweight and easy to get hold of, they don't hurt me, especially if they twist or break. I was a little hesitant to buy these aluminum levers because I'd heard stories of aluminum levers breaking in half very quickly, but I figured I'd had enough of the plastic levers and took a chance. I've had it for about a year now and haven't had any problems with it. These aluminum levers feel very comfortable in my hands and allow for quick tire removal or installation. I've used them on a variety of classic and modern hoops and haven't had any real problems with either style of hoops. The only minor issue I've ever had is that the end of the arm isn't very deep so it can slip out from under the hard bead on the tires. Still, they slide out smoothly without hurting my hands or fingers. I will definitely be buying a spare pair for my tool kit.
