This is a rather pleasant product made mainly from coarse salt with a small amount of flavorings, charcoal and other substances. I've used it to wash my face before shaving and also before using a facial mask (yes, yes, I take my facials more seriously than many men. My wife makes fun of me for it, but I don't mind If you're thinking about buying this, you're probably the type of guy who cares for his face better than average, too.). This material exfoliates the skin well and leaves a feeling of freshness before shaving. I made the mistake of using it one afternoon after my morning shave before I wanted to moisturize my skin and my skin got horribly burned. Not sure if it was because it's abrasive or something in it, but my skin was red and irritated. It was a bad time. I won't shoot stars for this because it's mostly my fault. It is intended to be used before shaving.
