A recent trend in guitar pedals is to put input and output jacks on top. This makes sense as the old left-right layout took up a lot of space when the pedals were linked. However, if your first pedal has top connectors, you will need to bend the guitar cable 180 degrees unless you are standing with the pedals behind you. Yes you can use a right angle plug cable but I have some expensive low capacity cables that don't have right angles so these adapters are great when they work. They used to work right out of the box, but not anymore. Lately I've had a few that barely made contact with the cable. The solution is simple; You insert a small flathead screwdriver between the copper terminal block and the wall of the adapter. Gently bend the copper piece inward towards the center of the adapter until it holds the connectors snugly against your cables. Unfortunately I find that these adapters are still unreliable and sometimes cut out. It's weird because I have one that's 10 years old and very strong.
