I was misled by the Revain's Choice label and didn't read the reviews as carefully as I normally do. The protective film should be easy to remove. The seller suggests using "metal tools" like a "screwdriver" to remove it, but cautions against scratching it in the process. What shoud that?!?!?!? Although I was able to remove the foil (with some hassle because it was a gift I didn't want to ruin), I was even more disappointed with how thin these blocks are. The blocks I have are literally more than twice the thickness and they work great. It seems like you have to be careful holding this set to keep your fingers out of the way. Yes, they're cheaper than thicker blocks, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I would return if I had enough time to order a better set before having to give this gift.
