Breeches without fasteners are great. I would give them a 5, but the 26 waist is closer to a 28. A thin elastic band is sewn into the wide waistband. I would go with a softer stretch material for the strap, maybe with the ability to fold it down while leaving the rest of the pant in a durable, heavy-duty stretch material, which is pretty impressive. The knee patches are good but didn't save me from bruising from the girths on my right side, although they may have made them less painful. When you bend your knees, the patch seams pull the knees together a little, making these pants suitable for riding only. In general I like them. I would buy them again. For reference, I'm 26" waist, 37" hips, 107 lbs, 5'4". I ordered a size 26. Maybe next time I'll try a size 24. But it can be very tight on the legs If you have calf muscles, which I don't know, they can be very tight.
