I almost gave this product 1 star due to an unfortunate mistake on my part caused by something I thought was stupid in the kit that came with the camera. Here's my story: I bought this camera for a trip to the Pacific. The camera worked great and I'm happy with the results for a purchase under $100. I mainly used the camera for underwater photography while snorkeling. But one afternoon as we were getting ready to swim we got bugs so my wife sprayed bug repellent on my arms and legs. There was a puddle on one leg that I rubbed in. However, the spray contained DEET. Then I touched the back of the waterproof case, ruining the tailgate. I DID NOT KNOW THAT DEET IS PLASTIC! you have been warned But I wasn't worried as I knew there was a spare part in the accessories. What I didn't understand is that the shaft is NOT WATERPROOF! Why on earth would a manufacturer supply a second back cover for a waterproof case that isn't waterproof? After returning to the US I used the camera in my swim back pool and guess what - the camera got wet, the screen went white and I thought I messed up the camera and left myself with a bag full of parts would never use again. However, I quickly took the camera out of my pocket, removed the battery and memory card, put the camera in a bag of rice and left it in a warm place for 48 hours. I'm happy to report that the camera is working perfectly - time will tell. But I repeat again, why would anyone supply a replacement back cover for a waterproof case that doesn't make the case waterproof? So here are two warnings: Stay away from insecticides that contain DEET. The replacement case back is not waterproof.
