The first thing I checked was the sound. I know why? Sound makes up 50% of this package and most webcams have poor sound. A review I saw on Youtube convinced me to try this camera by comparing not only the video quality of four cheap webcams but also the sound quality. I was so impressed with the sound quality that I bought it right after the video ended. The sound is remarkably clear with no background noise and delivers a good mix of highs and lows. To be honest, it feels like I'm standing right next to a webcam with soundproof panels on the sides and behind me. I sit at arm's length, exactly 3 feet 2 inches. I speak at a normal volume and the reproduction is perfect. I test this using the "Test Microphone" button in the Zoom audio settings and the following options. Auto: Continuous background noise reduction and Intermittent background noise reduction. Disabling both options results in more background noise from my computer fan, which is right behind my monitor (small space on my desk), but that's reasonable for my computer's location (HP Z800 with about 6 fans inside, so quiet and noisy ). was enabled for both tests because that and "aggressive" are the only two options. The video is better than I expected given the price. It's clearly 1080p. Overall, I was impressed with the image quality. In the Windows Camera app I was able to reduce the brightness a bit, but other settings such as tint, color change, etc. were not presented to me. Color looks good and accurate. The field of view w is 85%. This means you appear smaller in the picture but see more of what's behind you. At arm's length, I looked a little shorter than my other Zoom participants. So keep that in mind if something bothers you. If it were a $200-$300 Logitech webcam I would expect amazing sound, video, color and total control over everything, but that's why I bought this camera because I just want a basic camera with good sound and decent video that doesn't break my budget. All in all, this is a decent camera for the price. Others have mentioned bad audio and/or video. I wonder if they were just unlucky or if I was lucky. Luckily this one has free returns for me so the risk of the purchase was very low.
