Review on Bubba Licorice Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel by Michael Schafer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for resort use. 20 oz with handle

I'm a wine critic but bought this with my own money for a vacation trip. I was on vacation years ago by other travelers and got back from Mexico yesterday where I used it for my week there. Reasons to bring a Bubba keg item is that I don't like those dainty little cups for drinks at all-inclusive resorts. Many people think they are washed. These cups are collected, dipped in dishwater, filled with another drink, and given to the next customer. No thank you. People enjoy spending time in or around the pool and do not want pool water to get into their drinks. This will prevent it. You won't spill your drink with one of these. There is a pen, it's good. It keeps drinks cold, and ice doesn't dilute the drink nearly as much as a regular mug. The ice stays ice for several hours. Good luck with that at a plastic cup resort when it's 90 degrees outside. And it protects your drink from bugs. And it's unlikely that someone could easily put something (like drugs) in your drink after the bartender gave it to you if you have a lid along with a flip-top. Thing. The opening is big enough for most straws. The bad news is that if you get mixed dakiri and it's not mixed enough, ice cubes can get stuck in the hole in the lid. I noticed that mine had a very small vent and that it was annoying because it has an airtight lid as well as a hinged material with a silicone gasket to seal the hydration hole, but then you still have a darn tiny hole for liquid to flow through if it is knocked over. Although the leakage is very slow. Another nice thing is that when you go to an all inclusive resort, you go to the resort's restaurants and I often finish my meal, I eat quickly before my drink gets off the waiters. With this I stop at the bar at the resort and fill it up and take it to the restaurant and there is no waiting and I have 2 drinks in the mug and I have washed the mug so I know I will not drink a dirty glass. Some people may not understand if it's left or right handed if they do it right. mine was. It has a staggered initial thread, depending on where you start threading the cap, it ends with a hole facing you. If you unscrew the cap and it is not facing you, unscrew the cap by pushing down until it snaps on the threads and screw it all the way down. I only got 20 ounces which is about 2 of 9-10 ounce spa drinks. This worked fine for me, but go up one size if you feel like it's not working. Any vacuum insulated mug will likely work just fine. I would recommend a pen. I cannot confirm the long term durability of this Bubba keg although I have seen some other reviews where the handle is broken.

Pros
  • Large capacity means fewer drink trips and more fun with friends and family
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
