I bought 5 shelves for my boat. I have several different finishes, but mostly Formica. I also had vinyl and a rougher finish. All surfaces have been washed and wiped with alcohol. The shelves were held with light pressure for at least 15 minutes and no items were placed on the shelves for 24 hours (if they were still on the wall after 24 hours). The shelves just couldn't hold up. Of course, a vinyl surface can pose a problem in any situation. I didn't want to add gorilla tape because it might damage the finish if I ended up trying to remove the shelves. Unfortunately, these nice little shelves didn't work in my situation.
