It looks great and my wife will also be using it in the kitchen to reach items on the top shelf of the cabinets, but our goal was to have a small step stool for access to our trunk. She's perfect for that! To close the ladder, all you have to do is grab the handle and shake it slightly as you pull it up. The first few times I tried to close the ladder I didn't shake it when I lifted it and this makes closing the ladder a bit awkward. Once you figure out a little shake or tilt motion, it turns out to be easy to close.
