Disappointed with guest books

I bought this for my dad's funeral. I bought this book because it came with a place card and pen. The book is very pretty and sturdy but I was very disappointed because the pen stopped working after the fourth guest signed the book leaving us with an ugly pen just lying on the guest book. Not what I wanted to do.
