Aesthetic stand for aesthetic speakers. with a problem

Sanus speaker stands for Sonos Play 5 second generation speakers are a very good choice. The main competitors are the significantly more expensive speaker stands from Flexson and Vogel. Comparing the three I would say that the Sanus with its aluminum stand is more aesthetically pleasing than the Flexson stand and probably on par with the Vogel stand. The white stand goes very well with my white speaker. As a plus, the speakers can be installed both horizontally and vertically. The disadvantage of the stand is the stability of the column on a metal plate. The metal plate that the speaker sits on doesn't feel "latching" and rests on a very flat socket that you place the speaker on (photo attached). From what I've read Sonos removed the screw hole on the bottom of the speaker when making the 2nd generation speakers to allow for a more stable mounting. In the user guide, Sanus gives the option to use 3M tape (not included) which can increase the stability of the mount and I would probably recommend it. Regardless of the speaker's stability on the base, I would definitely recommend keeping the stand away from potential accidents, especially if there are children or pets in the house. I don't think it would be too hard to knock the stand (and speaker goodbye) over if someone bumped into it, even if the speakers were taped to the stand.
