Great quality - but check your settings!

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. So this is a somewhat unique review as I can't use these headphones for myself. They're actually really good headphones (well, give me a second), but I do freelance audio production and I have some pretty expensive headphones and monitors that are just plain better. Even for gaming, I installed a condenser mic on my computer, so. Yes. In any case, I want to be absolutely clear: if you're looking for new headphones and they're within your budget, buy them. Unless your head is big and unsightly, these are going to be the most comfortable headphones you'll ever wear, and with a little adjustment, they'll sound better than any other headphones in your price range. Now the hardest part: the setup. So I'm doing sound production again. Therefore all my computers have an equalizer in their audio drivers and by adjusting this equalizer I have achieved great sound from these headphones. However, WITHOUT these settings, these headphones sound slightly dull and heavy. So if you want to use them as plug and play headphones on a system without EQ settings (most systems have these settings, your phone, iPod, many computers and/or most music programs, etc.d.) , maybe skip them. You should be able to adjust the equalizer to get the best sound out of them. Next the microphone. That was the weakest point in my opinion as most built-in mics are utter nonsense. Surprisingly this one is really good, it's not tinny or muffled, it's a bit quiet but not unnecessarily, and it has great compression/dynamics. My only complaint is that the mic boom/pole/thing is very stiff, it took some effort to get it in the right position. These headphones also have a feature that makes them shine. I'd be sure of this if it wasn't super duper minor - all audio is sent through the 3.5mm jack, not USB. However, the LEDs are only powered via USB. So, in order for the sound to stop and the LEDs to work, you need to connect both cables. Which is annoying. Especially if, like me, you have a computer where the 3.5 audio output you're using isn't right next to the USB port. On my laptop they are on opposite sides. On my main desktop they are front and back. On my secondary they are side by side but the USB ports on the front are dead only the ones on the side work. So I can't make my amazing LEDs blink, which makes me sad. If they could transmit sound over USB and power the device at the same time, that would be cool. Or if they only had a battery that could be charged. Anyway I would love it. The cable is damn strong. It's all pretty solidly made, but what impresses me the most is the cable, it's amazing. The ear cushions are the largest, softest, and most luxurious I've ever felt in a headphone under $100. Soft marshmallow soft deliciously wonderfully soft ear pads. Too bad the headband is so cool and/or I have such a big head. If the whole build didn't squeeze my head too much, I'd recommend them to anyone with a less massive canopy because I'm willing to bet on anyone else that they're insanely comfortable overall. Of course, they don't lack much in terms of external noise either. They're not perfect, but they're quite effective considering the price. Much better than most regular headphones in this price range. As I said in the beginning, I don't plan on using them all that much, but they are a great backup for listening/playing and I would recommend them to anyone looking into them. Price - as long as you can tune this equalizer, you're in gold.
