I bought these lamps to light up dark closets and my garage where there is no overhead lighting. I like that they are easy to assemble and use and I would say they worked in 3 out of 4 places I was hoping to use them. Although the light is very bright, it's important to remember that it doesn't scatter at all (more like a flashlight than an incandescent bulb). In my large open garage, I put one by the door and the other by the storage space. They light up a small area around where I installed them and work very well. In a large broom closet I installed one right in the door and found that it illuminated the closet enough to pick up a coat/mop/box in the dark. The only place it really didn't work was in a small, very crowded closet full of clothes. The light comes straight from the switch so I could put it anywhere I could reach the switch, the light couldn't travel far enough to illuminate the closet. In addition, the blue LED is not very suitable for choosing clothes, since not all colors match. solve your problem. If so, then it's perfect. If not, keep looking.
