I just removed my Alaska Bear silk pillowcase after almost five years of continuous use so I'm sure it will last at least a year or two . I just washed it with water and dried it on a very low temperature and it looked amazing. Both the inner and outer layers are super soft, thin, breathable and contain 5% Lyra, allowing them to contract to conform to your hair. You can see through both layers of the cap if you hold it up to the light, but that just means you don't have a sauna on your head. It is very comfortable for sleeping and goes well with a silk pillowcase. I don't know the weight of the silk but I think she is under 19 years old.
