So, a four-year-old fat cat ate it, even though she's been behaving like this her whole life long starved. time and would have eaten most of the food, but she ate them anyway. The younger cat did not want, she decided not to eat, but not to eat this food, I tried more than once, the same reaction. I started giving some hens to try and increase their protein intake as fussy little sticks won't eat pellets or crumbs and in fact once the hens ate it in the bowl the younger cat has it right out of the bowl eaten. a chicken bowl, but when I put this cat food in her bowl afterwards, she refused to eat it. I do not understand. My vet once told me that it's not so much the formula or taste, but the smell and shape/texture of the grit that determines whether a cat likes it or not. In the end, the cats liked him ambiguously, anyway. This food was great for my cat's body, no ill effects so it's good. The ingredients are clean enough, I have no problem with brown rice, sorghum or millet, and I prefer healthy whole grains to legumes and especially soy. I will say the food I normally feed them is N&D and is 44% protein and 20% fat compared to Blackwood's 30% protein and 17% fat. I prefer more protein, my cats aren't old enough to worry about kidney problems from too much protein and it seems more natural to me to eat more protein as wild deer mice average only 1.7% carbs when they are analyzed. I just want to say So if I'm giving this cat food three stars just because it's "okay," I'd add another star if it's higher in protein, and I'd add another star if both cats like the food. this instead of one.
