Review on NICREW RGB+W 24/7 LED Aquarium Light: Remote Control, Full Spectrum, 12W Planted Freshwater Tank Light by Michelle Meyer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great light at a very reasonable price

Can't complain for the price. It has a wide color spectrum, is easy to adjust and retains all color and phase settings (sunrise, sunset, night) when switched off. The only thing that bothers me is that a power outage, no matter how brief, means the time resets to 00:00. To illustrate, if a power outage occurs at 10:00 am and returns at 10:02 am, the aquarium will now not be lit until 5:00 pm (assuming the lights were programmed to come on at 7:00 am). This isn't the only timed lamp on the market with this problem. In fact, all devices on the market (except for the fancy ones connected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) have this problem. Why can't they give you the option to put in a small watch battery to keep track of time! I would happily spend $2 every year and replace the battery. Yes, you can get Wi-Fi smart plugs, have an Alexa routine, etc. But then you lose all sunrise, sunset and night light automation. Also, most Wi-Fi connections I know don't retain memory even in the event of a power outage, so what's the point! Tip: I am not an experienced fish farmer. The light is very bright as programmed from the factory. It's probably not a big deal if you're dosing CO2, but I had to dim everything down to 50% to prevent my tank from having constant algae blooms. That's enough for my 16 gallon Fluval spec, which includes Revain Swords, Anubias, Java Moss, Java Fern, Anacharis, Ludwigias, etc. These plans are suitable for moderate to low light. I'll end this review with "Please turn on the battery to save time" - don't even turn on the battery! Make the product $10 more expensive! I guarantee people will appreciate it!

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
