I have a labrador who can't swim! Can you believe it? She dips her butt in the water and tries to walk along the bottom, after which she drowns. can't keep his nose above water to breathe. I tried to teach her but she didn't get used to it. Our other lab seems made for water. I do not understand. I was looking for a life jacket because I'm afraid to take it on my boat. I've checked out a few pet stores but the offerings (some for sale here at Revain) seemed poorly made, with a handle/stitch that looked like it would come right off if I ever had to use it to hold them to plant in a boat. They didn't match and appeared to be made of cheap materials that wouldn't hold up under pressure. If she had been a small dog the others might have been fine, but she is a big dog. I kept looking and found this one. From the photos I have the impression that it was built with the best materials and with the best non-chunky design. I measured it and chose the size indicated in the table. I ordered knowing I can return. It fits perfectly (I ordered XL). Fits snugly and securely to her body, but not tight. It's the right length too. The fabric is more durable than others I have reviewed. Buckles, stitching and handles are also durable. The design provides enough buoyancy to allow your legs to move freely. She still tries to reach the bottom with her hind legs, then tries to straighten her legs to reach the bottom and then paddles. This is the funniest and most embarrassing sight, but her head is held securely above the water while she "freestyles".
