Good extra layer. I use this for walking the dog and jogging in midwest winter weather. Not super warm but breathable. Pros: Very comfortable and light. Versatility - Even without a hat or leggings, it's very convenient to keep your neck warm. Part of the hat covers my ears just enough to keep the wind out, which some hats are too small for. Best of all, it's adjustable - you can just pull it over your face when it's windy and lower it when you're in warmer areas. The gaiter tightening switch is easy to adjust even while wearing. Cons/Considerations: It's not waterproof so I'm curious to see how it performs in a snow storm. Warmth: I don't know how you'd add insulation but would still maintain breathability, but it's not super warm. For really cold times I would prefer something warmer than this single layer fabric. The wind blows around my cheeks/nose. While very soft, it is not (or not at all) Sherpa lined and not fluffy on the inside as one would expect of a "fleece".
