Review on FilamentOne ASA Select Ultramarine Blue by Mark Ponnusamy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This material printed quite well. I have zero complaints about him.

I used almost the entire roll and found that it prints better at a lower temperature than expected. I printed about 230 for best results. A spool of black ASA filament from this company prints at 243 when I print this and may need to be hit from there. The blue thread seemed relatively dry and came out of the gate unobtrusively. A bit viscous even at this low temperature, but not bad. One thing I want to point out that others may not have touched on is the spool. I don't know what material the coil is made of, but it seems to be a fairly high temperature resistant plastic compared to other coil materials I've thrown in the oven. Heated my soldering iron to 100F and it left no mark on this coil until I put it in a deep fryer at 170F for an hour. (I had to dry out this manufacturer's black ASA filament because it contained some water). The spool and line were in excellent condition, but the spool was a little cloudy compared to crystal clear. I'm wondering if the coil has crystallized and I'll test it with my soldering iron to see what temperature it can mark compared to the blue coil that never needed drying. These bobbins can use some heat to help dry the other yarns on the lower drums. Once I've used up this ASA I'll transfer my nylon threads to these rollers and see how they hold up for a nice long stay in the fryer.
