Bought for my wife who needed an inexpensive compact pocket camera. I'm very impressed with its capabilities, although, as expected, the tiny image sensor limits maximum image quality. I wasn't expecting much from this price range, but this camera is far superior to other cameras I've tried, at least in its basic specs. The stabilization works surprisingly well. I can shoot handheld at full optical zoom with no blur. In fact, it's so stable that I used the camera as "binoculars" to get a closer look at the wildlife on a recent walk. Since this camera will primarily be used by those with little photography experience, I did most of my testing in the Advanced Superior Auto mode. In this mode, the camera takes multiple continuous shots and then averages them to get the best picture. The results are very acceptable. It was hard for me to take a bad picture with him. Focusing is very fast and accurate. MUCH faster than any of my much more expensive Canon cameras! The smartphone camera connection is easy to set up and works well for basic camera controls. It does NOT download any Sony apps which is disappointing. Some cons. What I don't like at all is the lack of any exposure or flash settings. I find the flash too harsh most of the time, resulting in a slight overexposure. It is very annoying that it cannot be fixed. I read several reviews of this camera stating that it has 1080p videos. It is not. 1080i video (as stated in the specifications) what matters. Interlacing is definitely noticeable when watching videos on a large TV screen. In terms of actual image quality, don't expect miracles as the sensor is only 1/2.3 inch. just not there. I would have preferred a good image sensor with more bells and whistles, but at this price I think it's asking too much. Overall it's a good camera that focuses quickly every time and the most important thing for them is catch photos of grandkids!
