Review on Ronton Cat Scratch Deterrent Tape: Transparent Double Sided Training Tape for Cats - Pet & Kid Safe Furniture Protector (5 Sheets) by Lisa Rice

We recently rescued a kitten and it's tearing down the house. Our sofa actually belongs to our landlord and he seems to focus on scratching the ends of the sofa as much as possible. Our two cats also love to scratch the corners of our mattress. (I edited my review a bit as I used the product completely wrong the first day - I'm even happier and impressed with the right way to use this product! I was expecting something that works but isn't aesthetically pleasing Twists Some of the reviews were wrong - the stripes are transparent and barely noticeable!) I got the impression from other reviews that the tape is not transparent. I was planning on throwing a cloth or sheet/blanket over it over the corners of our mattress. When I first opened it up, I stuck the white sticky side to the edges of the sofa and the corners of the mattress. It worked! My partner looked at the packaging and told me I used tape wrong! Haha! IS transparent. Between the beige and white sheets is another thin layer that had to be peeled off with nails, but it's transparent (sticky on both sides)! This is a wonderful surprise as I read reviews that were NOT transparent and decided it was still worth buying our homeowner's sofa and mattress corners. The strips seemed to be successful even when I applied them incorrectly, although the cats still made some attempts and it didn't look very aesthetic. Ever since we installed the clear double stick side our cats tried to scratch once on each surface and got angry and ran away and have left them alone ever since! Hooray! If anything changes in the next week or two I will update my review. However, it has been working surprisingly well for the last few days so far. At certain angles and depending on the lighting in the room, there is a slight reflection from the tape. It doesn't bother me, but some might. This is something to keep in mind. But in general I can not say that it is. I'm really very impressed with it and am posting a photo to show how discreet it is. I have included a small sample of the ribbon in my photo so you can see where it begins and ends and decide if it suits you aesthetically. One of the advantages of this product is that you can cut the material to the size you want. FYI, if you have multiple large areas to cover, one package may not be enough. Four smaller areas are more than sufficient for our purpose. My only concern is how long the adhesion will last. At the moment it looks like our sofa and mattress are perfectly secure and the sheets will do for a while. I'll update my review if I have a different opinion on adhesion in the future (too early for me to tell). However, I'm thrilled that it looks like we're getting rid of the need to buy a new sofa for our landlord!
