Just follow the instructions.

Wow. Lots of rave reviews for this product. See, these collars may not be right for every cat, but flea and tick treatments aren't right for every cat. Look at any review section for any of these products and you will see horror stories. I was initially hesitant to buy these as some horror reviews talked about skin irritation and hair loss so I asked our trusty vet. Your Answer? Most problems are caused by user error, so just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. The instructions clearly state not to overtighten. The fitted fit is loose enough for you to wear neatly over your kitty's head without having to adjust it. Over tightening may cause irritation. Now for efficiency. They work very well for prevention. We have two cats that spend most of their time outside. A third cat recently appeared and decided that my garden would be his new home. I noticed this new cat has fleas so I bought these collars for all three cats. For a new cat who had fleas, the results were modest. I saw how many fleas died in the first week but in the end we still had to treat him orally to get rid of the infestation completely. The other two cats have never had fleas and these collars will keep them away from any fleas that have been appearing for three months now. That's impressive to me considering all three cats were very affectionate with each other and even slept next to each other on several occasions. All in all, I call it a success, especially given the affordability.
