This 3-inch model easily holds my 20-ounce Camelbak and Hydro Flask bottles. They are easy to take out and put back in when I want a drink. Plenty of space for my Galaxy S7 cell phone - still free space. My waist is 32 inches, and it's about five inches down, you could do without a dangling belt. I think it can fit up to a foot size waist or maybe a little more before you need an lengthening. It is well designed and finished, highly recommended. (I'm interested in fitness and it doesn't bounce at any pace or terrain; can't comment on the higher ups and downs of running.)
