Terrible smell upon unpacking

The item arrived very quickly but when I opened the package there was a very strong chemical smell. I smell like rubber glue. I've tried airing them out but not sure I even want to use them on my desk next to my food as the smell is too strong. It is not recommended to use it as a tablecloth when it comes to food.
