Review on πŸ’ˆ Philips Norelco Shaver 6900, S6810/82, Series 6000, Black - The Ultimate Electric Shaver for a Perfect Shave by Kate Anderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well, value is questionable.

The Norelco 6900 shaver offers you a close shave with great comfort. However, it doesn't shave *better* (closer) than their 7 year old 6945xl, which sells for about 1/3 the price. What I expect from a straight razor is a close shave. It does, but so did the 6945xl and I couldn't tell any difference between the two when I shaved one side of my face with the 6900 and the other with the 6945. I want to make that clear in almost every other way the newer 6900 is better than 6945xl. Shaving is much more comfortable. I don't really care as the 6945xl didn't bother me, but if you're looking for convenience the 6900 is impressive. It charges quickly - just an hour for a full charge. Spring. (Norelco has an alternative model with ear and nose hair trimmers). It is easy to clean and very clean after rinsing. The razor supports "wet" shaving but I don't, so it's not to my advantage. There is a "skin protection" mode. Slower rotation if you want less irritation. Now he shaves so smoothly that this mode seems irrelevant. But it's there when you need it! It comes with a handy travel pouch, but there's no room in the pouch for a charger or trimmer - not a very good design. s6850, s6820 and s6810 but not the 6900 model. It turns out that these 4 numbers are variants of the 6900. Good shave. If you're looking to save money, you can probably find a cheaper Norelco that shaves just as well but gives you fewer options. (Norelco 4500 seems to be the current model most similar to the 6945xl) -------- Update --------- Now that I've been using it for almost two weeks, has my opinion on it changed a little better. It shaves no closer than the 6945xl. but he shaves *faster*. --------- Another update ------- Now that I've been using it for over a month, my opinion of it has improved. Upgrading my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Expensive but worth it!
