I am very interested in the manufacture date of these straps and/or if they are in good storage conditions. I ordered these tapes on December 3rd, 2012. They were bought to replace tapes that had deteriorated from lots of recording and re-recording resulting in poor video/audio quality when I found I only had one new tape left. I have ordered TDK tapes because they have been of good quality in the past and have held up well. Before using any of these tapes, I cleaned the heads of all the VCRs in the house. My old cassettes have not touched my VCRs since they were cleaned. The first tape in the batch had some recording quality issues (image was a little grainy) but I was busy and it wasn't enough for me to pick and choose from the tapes that I would watch once and record later. The quality of that first tape remained consistent (albeit still grainy) on subsequent recordings. Unfortunately I didn't test the remaining tapes right away. If I did I would return them or request a replacement in the hope that the next batch will be newer or stored in a cooler location or from a different production batch or have some other reason for the problems. After trying two cassettes that had more problems than the first, I transferred the pristine cassette from that purchase to another VCR for record/playback. The same problems. I unpacked 5 out of 10 tapes in this purchase and found that all but the first had serious recording/playback problems. Sound quality ranges from decent to poor, and the video problems are so severe that my VCR's auto-tracking has been constantly trying to lock onto the worst tape yet. The worst quality tape is also the very last cassette I rolled out and I'm a little concerned about putting something I really want to see on top of the five remaining cassettes to wait for me to finish a few hours to test. them (and the inclination to). The extremely bad cassette in question ended up in the trash today after I played back the recorded material. The missing video and audio parts were short enough for me to at least figure out what was going on. The last used cartridge of such terrible quality is also the reason I finally sat down to write this review. was still from the amount I had previously bought. oh years ago. Back when Sam's Club sold blank VHS tapes in every store, that's where I last bought them. :) I used the "new" ribbon I already had as a test control. Remember, the problem isn't that my cars need cleaning. I cleaned the drums and tape heads before unwinding new tapes. It's not like my head cleaner got damaged or the heads got smashed because my 4? - 5? - 6? a summery (but freshly rolled) cassette, recorded with no quality problems. The problem is the large number of tapes I bought in December. I advise you to consider the possible problems and my experience when purchasing this product. I highly recommend you test all the cartridges in the batch as soon as you receive your package so you can return or exchange them if necessary and you don't get stuck with a bunch of old/bad tapes because you found the first tape to be passable . Quality. I did not try to buy more tapes. I won't make a decision until the other 5 are verified. who knows, maybe everything else is easy. (What? It could happen!) In any case, if I buy VHS tapes again, I probably won't buy those tapes, although I've had good luck with them in the past. The ones I received were 120 as described, not the 8 hour tapes pictured.
