Bought as a gift

This particular camera was bought as a gift and will be presented at the turn of the year. I bought one about 18 months ago and I really liked it. I found the feature count slows things down a little, and I'm pretty sure I won't be taking full advantage of it. One feature I stumbled upon is that you can select a focus/light point by tapping the touchscreen and after about 3 seconds a photo will be taken with that point as the focus point and appropriate backlighting and/or flash Point. This is a feature I use a lot but couldn't find in the quick guide. I only wish I had had the time to sit down and read the entire manual while using it at the same time - it just didn't happen - my fault, not the camera. The story behind this purchase is that my daughter forgot to bring her Thanksgiving camera, so I let her use mine. Basic operation is intuitive, and she was capturing images in minutes without even consulting a manual. She liked her paintings so I bought her one for Christmas. Your previous camera didn't have Windows 7 drivers or a memory card reader to transfer images to a computer. I'm sure she will love the camera. One small thing is that I felt the camera was a bit overexposed in both natural light and flash photography. For each of the modes, you can set the shutdown independently. I set it to about 3/4 underexposure and now I like the photos I get. I understand that exposure is a matter of taste to some extent. Photographers who are much smarter than me have told me that underexposed photos can be fixed, but not overexposed ones. I don't do this repair so I really shouldn't care, but if I ever had time to work with any of the photo analysis programs I would have photos to work with.
