Important to know: Accessories and consumables

First off, it's important to note that this outlet does NOT have a built in surge protector and I have chosen it over several similar ones from other companies. Why? I use it to attach to my stereo cabinet to reduce clutter and make certain plugs easier to access. An added benefit is that everything in the closet is plugged into a single outlet that is attached to the closet itself. I only have to unplug one cord to move the entire cabinet underneath and behind for cleaning. So if I'm connecting expensive electronic components, why wouldn't I want surge protection? Because you should NEVER connect one surge protector to another and I intend to connect this clamp filter to a high quality, high performance surge protector. The idea of an extension cord with a clamping device is brilliant. It's not a big brand, but it's the only one in this style that doesn't have built-in surge protection. It's made out of plastic but is well made and the sockets are spaced far enough apart to use the power supply transformers and the sockets are aligned so the odd shaped plugs don't interfere with each other. You'd be surprised how many companies get this wrong. The upside is that they include two USB powered ports, perfect for my home entertainment accessories like USB powered bluetooth adapters. That doesn't mean the product or brand is bad. Before I trust an extension cord, I do this simple test. I stick a small, inexpensive Sperry Instruments GFI6302 GFCI outlet/socket tester, standard 120VAC outlet continuity tester, into each outlet and wiggle it. If the warning lights don't flash, I know the wiring in the strip is tight. If it flickers I know it may be a loose wire and I am returning the product to have it replaced. Incidentally, I only found a defective socket once, the chances are rather small. While not a top brand, it's well made and good value for money. I like it.
