Review on Emberlit Titanium UL: The Ultimate Survival Gear for Camping, Hunting, and Emergencies, Weighing Only 5.45 oz by Kevin Schnitzer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Large furnace with x2 fuel sources.

Emberlit Titanium UL is my new emergency set and my BOB master stove. It is stable in use and very well studied. It replaces the Clickstand windshield and Trangia oven frame for the following reasons. 1) The Clickstand is intended for one use only: as a frame and stand for a Trangia spirit lamp. This Emberlite can be used with multiple fuel sources including wood. In terms of wood utilization, Emberlit UL is more suitable for wood utilization than Emberlit Fireant as it is larger and makes it easier to add wood fuel. 2) Emberlit is perfect for my Trangia oven (details below). 3) It is very light and packs almost nothing. It almost disappears in my BOB. This Emberlite cannot be used with Hexamine Fuel Pellets as there is no top shelf insert for this stove. Note Note. As for the Trangia, the alcohol burner fits perfectly in this Emberlit stove, with a few important caveats: 1) Placing the Trangia directly on the stove shelf will leave the Trangia too low in the frame for optimal burner usage. . This is easily solved by inserting a set of titanium chopsticks into the frame holes in opposite directions and then mounting the Trangia onto the chopsticks. This lifts the Trangia high enough into the frame so that the burner ring is at the optimum distance from the bottom of the pot. Additionally, raising the Trangia by this distance creates a good updraft in the frame, further improving fuel efficiency, and the inward-sloping sides of the Emberlit frame focus heat and flame directly onto the bottom of the kettle. I carry titanium chopsticks with me anyway, so nothing gets lost. 2) Since the trangia is in a fully enclosed frame when lit, using the original trangia ring cap to quench the flames on the burner is a real bummer. Keep in mind that the flame rises strong and hot and you cannot place the bouillon ring on the burner from the side and the Trangia bouillon ring has no handle to protect your hands from burns if you try to move it towards the stove throw. Burner. Most of the time trying to just drop the ring on the torch will result in a "miss" and the ring will bounce off the top of the torch and do nothing. You are then forced to fish for the boiling ring in the hot, flaming environment. not good. For this reason I replaced the trangia ring in my emergency kit and BOB with a Simmerring from Esbit, a fake trangia stove. The Esbit cooker broth ring has a handy foldable wire handle that allows me to position the ring over the Trangia burner when it is in the Emberlit cooker. It just makes the Trangia easier to use and a lot safer when used in conjunction with this Emberlit stove. I sent the rest of the Esbit kit in my spares bag as I have a slight preference for the Esbit version of the Trangia stove.
