My husband brought home bed bugs from his recent trip to California and the mattress topper I had bought in the past was sold out in stores so I bought one these based on the reviews and i was terribly disappointed because the seams were huge. Bed bugs are usually the size of a crushed apple seed, and the stitching on this cover was twice that size. Even the seams on my sheets were three times smaller. In desperation, I left it on my mattress. Even though I put traps under the legs of my bed, sprayed the mattress, removed the bed from the wall, sprayed and steamed the bed frame, the bed bugs still kept coming in, meaning they were probably coming off my mattress. After a few days I found a protective cover in the store, so I quickly replaced it on my bed and noticed a few key differences between the two. Aside from the tiny stitching, the allerease brand gathered the ends to allow them to stretch out onto my mattress (leaving no extra gathered fabric for the bed bugs to hide). It also had a pull tab to close the end of the zipper and prevent them from getting through that entry point. After one night of putting this cover on my mattress, I saw no more bed bugs. This really confirmed that this enclosure is not very good for housing bed bugs. I would definitely choose a different product if you want to keep bed bugs off your mattress. I ended up throwing it in the trash and although the one I bought was almost double the price, it provided the protection I was looking for.
