I have two scales: #1 was bought by my family in 1945; #2 is the thing. #1 is fun because where you put your feet on the flat surface of the scale determines the outcome. Stand up 5 times, stand up 5 times, you get 5 different weights plus or minus 1 or 2 pounds from the first result. After 76 years, the old snail has every right to be moody. #2 is a smooth, shiny car. Not only is the weight displayed in fractional and decimal places, but where you put your feet affects the result. THE? Also, the space on the floor - that corner, the middle of the room - affects the results - not by tenths of a pound, but by 3 or 4 pounds! How can the lack of mathematical certainty be explained?
