The term 'microfiber' is used a lot and encompasses so many different weaves and textures that it's almost impossible to know what you're getting when you buy a cleaning cloth. A search reveals that microfiber is technically defined as a synthetic yarn thinner than one denier (duh-neer), or less than ten microns. A thread of silk is about one denier; A human hair is about twenty denier. For economic and environmental reasons, I'm trying to reduce my use of paper towels and non-woven towels (like handi-wipes). Although these fabrics are made from synthetic yarns, the fact that they can be washed and reused seems like a reasonable compromise. These HomeRhyme wipes are larger and more convenient to clean than others I've seen. They have a terry-like weave - lots of stray thread loops - that improve absorbency and washability. Because they're made from microfiber and not cotton, you can expect them to last longer and produce less lint compared to similarly sized cotton towels. Overall, they appear to be fairly substantial, and there are a good number of them included in the pack. How well they hold up to repeated use remains to be seen.
