The first set I bought I didn't look at the video on the product website and had to remove and break the screen. 2nd screen, followed the instructions and worked perfectly. About 8 months later, my son dropped a corner of the iPad Air 3's glass surface onto the metal corner of a large mini fridge. The shield was cracked and low. When I gently peeled off the broken corner, I saw that the real screen was not broken at all. Until a replacement arrives on the spot. The shield has done its job! I've ordered another set. Worked great and is like new again. I ran several tests with a broken pane of glass. I tried to scratch it with a clothespin needle. Nothing. Then stainless steel scissors with a sharp end. Nothing. He applied strong pressure and quickly rubbed back and forth. Nothing. I then used the knife on my Leatherman. Wow. It doesn't scratch! The back with the electrostatically adhesive side is a film. I suspect it's similar to how the film itself was used as protection as it was a bit resilient. Where the broken glass was punctured, it did not go through this layer of film. The glass didn't break everywhere because the foil held it in place. Then I used a grill lighter. Quick shots brought nothing. Eventually if you held it in place for 3 seconds you could see the film on the back melt and distort. The glass itself was fine. The only downside, and that's okay, is that since it's so thin it can't be bent much or it will break. So be careful. But you don't need a thick screen, so that's acceptable. I am very impressed and satisfied with this product. It saved the iPad Air 2019 from a cracked screen and I'm pretty sure it's scratch resistant. It feels great and looks great. You wouldn't even know it has a glass screen if it weren't for the cutouts for the camera and home button. These are also aligned almost perfectly and are not disturbing at all. A highly recommended product! Installation: If you follow the video and use the included alignment stickers, this will be one of the easiest installs I've ever done! Once the screen is aligned and the alignment stickers are in place, the screen itself acts as the screen when lifted to keep most dust particles out. I dusted and peeled off the sticky protective film, did another dust cleaning and slowly lowered the screen. It sealed easily and looked great. If you get a dust particle, gently lift the corner with your fingernail and run the other fingernail the full length of the screen. Use a pick or similar if you have one. Lift the screen protector very carefully and slowly so as not to damage it, and use the included dust sticker when lifting to get a dust particle, and then drop the screen protector into place. The screen protector is very well polished and does not have its own. anti-reflective coating. I didn't like it at first, but after turning on the screen I didn't think it was that bad. It is important to know that this protection works against scratches and some bumps on the glass screen.
