What a life saver! I found 4 IDE drives, two of which I knew were from the OOOOOLD build and the other two were unknown to me, so I got this device. All four drives burst into life, all four were surprisingly noisy and heated up FAST, in fact both of these factors were so severe that I didn't even leave the house to get the files out for fear of a fire. No kidding, I could boil an egg on one and the other two were so hot I used a t-shirt to grab them and put them in the pyrex to cool before throwing them away. I was really scared of the egg cooker, an old Seagate 300G which when I realized how hot it was switched to a metal plate when discharging because I was literally afraid it would burn my desktop (a decent oak plank I have redone, planed and painted) . The really nice thing was that these two beauties were from my FIRST PC build and I was able to pull out lots of old scanned real developed photos to talk about a blast from the past. OK, CONCLUSION, none of this has anything to do with this device, except that the device ran at surprisingly high speeds as expected (IDE kids, everything is relative) and provided an unexpectedly successful service, which for the price I think is totally worth it. I tested it on some old 1TB SATA drives that had random crap on them and it worked great there too. So do you have old IDE drives that you want to at least test before you throw them away? OR, if you have a lot of SATA drives lying around (and if you're reading this review, then you probably do) then this is a great device. I will keep for future use. To me? Worth the price and would buy again if lost or even as a gift.
