[edit] At first I gave this mat five stars, but after a month of using this mat, it has discolored a lot and turns the shower reddish. brown spots. We've lived in this house for over 30 years so we know how our water interacts with things (it never causes problems). So while my glowing review below still stands and the mat is very safe, the stains are a nuisance and as such the product could be better. [end edit] Like most of you, as I get older I worry more about falling, especially in the shower. We have a tiled shower and a water softener and this combination can make the shower floor slippery. That's why we added a shower mat many years ago. However, this carpet was not a panacea as it did not completely solve the problem. It was a little slippery on top, and the suction cups sometimes allowed the mat to shift sideways, leading to a potential "magic carpet trip to disaster". I decided it was time to try a different rug. and according to the description it works on tiled floors. Our shower floor uses 4" x 4" tiles so I think any rug will do (I'm pretty sure the problem with some rugs is that placing on the suction cup doesn't work on very small tiles, because there are grout lines). . that most suction cups won't stick). This mat has way more suction cups than our old one and they are very close together. I wet the floor, put down the carpet and took a shower. All I can say is WOW this rug is amazing. The top is absolutely not slippery, even in our soft water, and the suction cups don't allow for lateral movement. I feel absolutely safe on this carpet. The only slight disappointment is its width. The measurements given in the Revain description are absolutely correct and it is 1" narrower than my old rug. It doesn't seem like much but I'm quite tall so have a wide stance and it would be nice to have that extra inch. However, I can still stand on it with both feet without putting a foot on the tile, so I can easily get it to work. This is a good mat; it doesn't slip and YOU won't slip. i think you will like it
