Because the case is incredibly stable on uneven surfaces, which is how I use it most of the time. It's definitely not perfect, but it works for me - as long as I remember to check what I'm typing, manually turn off my iPad before closing the case, and most importantly, never remove the iPad from the case once it's in is torn. Place. I bought my last two used folios for less than $20, and aside from the comments above, they worked quite well - until I took my tablet out of the case. Beware of sellers advertising used tomes with a broken top left tab. At least one seller advertises that the case still works perfectly. Unfortunately, this is simply not true.
